Several Things Came Back Today
Recovery runs through today's edition. At Stanford, bleached corals close to death returned to full health within seven weeks after brief contact with healthy clones. It happened in a lab, and real reefs are a harder test, but the direction is clear. On the California coast, researchers moved 246 endangered black abalone to protected water, and counts rose from 54 to 302. In New York, a landmark exhibition gives Lee Krasner the recognition that long sat in Jackson Pollock's shadow. A reputation can recover too.
The science section is worth a minute today. Researchers have identified three brain pathways linked to lasting relief for people with treatment-resistant depression. A soy-derived compound protected mice from several harms of a high-salt diet, though that work is early and in animals only. These are first steps, and we have written them that way.
There is also a team in Montana with new teammates from across the Canadian border. Have a good Monday.
