Our reader promise
How the page behaves
- Ten stories a day, then it stops. No infinite scroll, no "you might also like" forever.
- No autoplay video, no pop-ups, no countdowns, no streaks, no badges, no "you missed a day".
- No notifications. One morning email if you ask for it, at a time you pick, and no "we miss you" emails ever.
- After 8 pm the page dims and calmer stories lead.
- "One good thing from your own day" is stored only in your browser. We never see it.
How we choose stories
Every morning we read about 160 sources across the US, UK, Europe, East Asia, South Asia and Africa. A story counts as good news if something got better, was repaired, protected, discovered or done well, and it is true. Product launches, celebrity news, business results, listicles and anything whose main event is a death, crime, disaster or war are left out, even with a hopeful ending.
Claude, an AI model, reads each candidate and writes the short summary and "why it's good news". An editor chooses the ten and writes the daily letter. Every story links to its original publisher, and we never rewrite their reporting as our own.
If we get one wrong, there's a "Not good news? Tell us" link on every story page. We read every one.
Ads
Ads pay for the site. They are always labelled, never placed above a headline, never shaped like a story, and never interrupt reading. The kids' section only shows family-safe categories. We don't sell your email address or reading history to anyone.
Editions
We guess your edition (Global, US or East Asia) from the country your connection comes from, nothing more precise than that. You can change it at the top of any page and we'll remember your choice on this device.
