After leaving school in Class 8, most people thought Prahlad Sardar’s story was over. But inspired by Bruce Lee, he turned karate into his escape. In 2018, he started teaching just four children from Kolkata’s slums in a park. Today, 85+ students train under him, many completely free. At the 9th International Karate Championship in Kolkata, 30 of his 31 students won medals among 7,500 participants from across the world. Because for Prahlad, karate isn’t just a sport.
