From security guard to software engineer: How Abdul Alim built a career at Zoho without a college degree

Abdul Alim's path to becoming a software engineer at Zoho Corporation defied the conventional route of higher education. After leaving home with just Rs 1,000 and joining Zoho as a security guard, he learnt programming under the guidance of a senior colleague while working 12-hour shifts. His dedication helped him secure a technical role in 2014. Today, after more than 12 years at the company, he serves as a Member of Technical Staff.
